FAQ to Pratt Plumbers

Q. What shall I do if I have water leaking from my storage hot water unit?
A. Unfortunately this means the cylinder inside has corroded and needs to be replaced with a new hot water unit.

Q. What is the expected lifetime of a storage hot water unit?
A. Usually storage units last between 5 and 7 years, unless it is a Rheem Stella which has a 10 year warranty.

Q. Can I replace my gas storage hot water unit with an instantaneous unit?
A. Yes.

Q. Can I replace my electric storage hot water unit with an electric instantaneous hot water unit?
A. Unfortunately not as instantaneous hot water systems are only gas. Consequently, they have very efficient running costs.

Q. Why do my drains gurgle?
A. The drains are in the process of blocking and in most cases will need to be cleared by a drain machine as soon as possible, ideally before it blocks completely. The plumber will use a rotating rod machine which cuts and clears out the blockage.
